Ingredients
- 3 cups flour
- 5 fl oz water
- 3 tbsp oil
- 1 egg substitute
- Pinch of salt
- 3 apples
- Juice of 1 lemon
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 cup vegan butter
- 1/4 cup vegan bread crumbs
- Powdered sugar (for decoration)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine 3 cups of flour, a pinch of salt, 3 tbsp of oil, 5 fl oz of water, and 1 egg substitute. Incorporate the ingredients thoroughly.
- Knead the mixture for about 10 minutes until you have a smooth and elastic dough.
- Place the dough in the fridge to rest for 1 hour.
- While the dough is resting, peel 3 apples and cut them into cubes. In a bowl, mix the apple cubes with the juice of 1 lemon, 1/2 cup of sugar, and 1 tsp of cinnamon.
- In a separate bowl, combine 1/4 cup of vegan butter and 1/4 cup of vegan bread crumbs.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Roll out the dough on a clean kitchen towel sprinkled with flour. Use your hands to gently stretch and thin the dough until it’s approximately the size of the towel.
- Spread the breadcrumb mixture evenly over the stretched dough, leaving a border around the edges.
- Next, evenly spread the apple mixture over the breadcrumbs.
- Use the kitchen towel to help you roll the strudel tightly, starting from one edge and rolling it up.
- Place the rolled strudel onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Brush the top of the strudel with vegan butter.
- Bake the strudel in the preheated oven for about 40 minutes, or until it turns golden brown.
- Once baked, remove the strudel from the oven and let it cool slightly.
- Dust the strudel with powdered sugar for decoration.
- Slice and serve the vegan apple strudel, and enjoy your delicious homemade dessert!
